Goodbye, Gérard,

SCIJ lost a long-time friend, a great journalist, a kind friend, and a good teammate. Gérard Leclerc, died on Tuesday, August 15th, in a small pleasure aircraft he was piloting in France. The cause is under investigation. crash of his plane. He was 71 years old. A long-time member of the French section of SCIJ. He was a French radio and television journalist.

Leclerc, the half-brother of singer Julien Clerc, began his career as a radio journalist with Europe 1 (1978-1985) and then RMC (1985) before spending three decades in public service, including almost twenty years at France 2.

After working for twenty years at France 2, he was president of the French National Assembly’s parliamentary channel LCP – AN from May 2009 to May 2015. From 2017 until his death, he was a political columnist on CNews, appearing on Romain Desarbres’ morning show and Pascal Praud’s L’Heure des pros.

No words can describe how sorry we are for his loss. It was too soon and unexpected. He meant a lot to everyone within the International SCIJ Community.  His positive attitude and his smiling face always be remembered.

He has gone from our sight but never from our hearts. He will be missed.
